Ahmad Said Asrori dalam sambutannya pada Konfercab bersama PCNU, IPNU dan IPPNU Magelang, mengajak kepada seluruh warga NU untuk memilih pemimpin yang sejalan dengan nilai-nilai luhur Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah An-Nahdliyyah. "Kami bersama dengan ini, mengajak kepada seluruh warga NU beserta badan otonom-otonomnya untuk ikut memenuhi hak dan kewajiban sebagai warga negara dengan penuh akhlakul karimah. Memenuhi hak dan kewajiban berdemokrasi, berpolitik dengan penuh akhlakul karimah," kata Kiai Said, di Pondok Pesantren Roudlotut Thullab, Kecamatan Tempuran Kabupaten Magelang, Ahad 03/03/2019. Kiai Said selaku tuan rumah sekaligus Rois Syuriyah PCNU mengatakan, warga NU tentu sudah menimbang, bagaimana menjadi nahdliyyin bertanggung jawab, berakhlak dan selalu mengedepankan akidah Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah. "Yakni dalam menentukan pilihan-pilihannya, kita harus mampu menilai, mana yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai kita sebagai warga Nahdlatul Ulama. Artinya sama dengan prinsip kita dalam beragama, berbangsa dan bernegara," jelas Kiai Said. Kiai Said berharap, khususnya di Kabupaten Magelang, warga NU memiliki kewajiban untuk memahami betul bagaimana para 'alim dan kiai dalam menanamkan doktrin kepada ummat dalam hal nasbul imamah memilih pemimpin. Dihadapan para peserta Konfercab, Kiai Said juga menyampaikan, NU merupakan ormas besar dengan gagasan dan cita-cita yang luhur, NU lahir dari dunia pesantren sehingga mewarisi tradisi klasik yang sangat kuat dengan mata rantai keilmuan yang bersambung kepada Rasulullah SAW. ”NU selalu responsif terhadap dinamika perkembangan zaman karena memahami Islam sebagai agama yang shahih li kulli zaman wa makan,” jelasnya. Menurutnya, NU sebagai peletak dasar Akidah Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah di Indonesia yang memegang teguh prinsip Al muhafadzatu ala qadimish sholih wal akhdzu bil jadidil aslah’ senantiasa menghasilkan kader-kader yang melimpah sekaligus berusaha menjadikan Islam rahmah demi terciptanya dunia yang damai dan beradab. Turut hadir dalam Konferensi bersama tersebut, KH Miftakhul Akhyar Rais Aam PBNU, Perwakilan PWNU Jawa Tengah, Bupati Magelang, Kapolres Magelang AKBP Yudianto Adhi Nugroho, Jajaran Forum Komunikasi Pimpinan Daerah FORKOPIMDA, serta pengurus anak cabang dan ranting NU beserta Banom se-kabupaten Magelang. Pasalnya, buku yang ditulisnya dengan judul bombastis itu mengandung unsur kebohongan publik. Selain itu, buku tersebut dinilai melecehkan amal ibadah yang selama ini dijalani warga NU. Apalagi saat ini sudah terbit buku kedua berjudul “Mantan Kiai NU Menggugat Tahlilan, Istighosah dan Ziarah Wali” yang lebih tebal dan lebih luks. Dikatakan Kiai Said Asrori, berdasarkan pengakuan pengurus Ranting NU Sidomukti, Kebomas, Gresik yang menjadi tempat kelahiran penulisnya, H Mahrus bukanlah orang NU. Pengakuan serupa diberikan oleh pengurus MWC NU Waru, Sidoarjo, tempat H Mahrus saat ini tinggal. Keduanya memberikan kesaksian lengkap dengan kop dan stempel jam’iyah. “Bukan orang NU mengaku sebagai mantan kiai NU, itu kan jelas-jelas kebohongan publik,” kata Kiai Said di Magelang, Ahad 24/2. Putra KH Asrori Ahmad itu mengaku sudah menyampaikan keluhannya itu pada Ketua PWNU Jawa Timur Dr H Ali Maschan Moesa, MSi secara khusus. Namun sayang, ia belum mendapatkan jawaban yang menggembirakan. Tampaknya Pak Ali belum melihat hal itu sebagai persoalan yang serius dan perlu ditangani dengan segera. Munculnya ide untuk membawa persoalan itu ke meja hijau, menurut pengasuh Pondok Pesantren Raudlatut Thullab Wonosari, Tempuran, Magelang itu karena semata-mata demi kebaikan bersama dan pesoalannya tidak semakin membesar. “Daripada warga NU yang marah mengamuk sendiri-sendiri,” tuturnya memberikan alasan. Di sisi lain, untuk memberikan pelajaran kepada penulis lain agar tidak melakukan hal yang sama di masa mendatang. “Kalau yang seperti itu dibiarkan, bukan tidak mungkin akan muncul buku yang lebih parah di waktu mendatang,” keluh alumnus Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo Kediri itu. Ia mengaku bersyukur dengan munculnya buku bantahan yang disusun oleh LBM PCNU Jember. Buku yang diberi judul "Membongkar Kebohongan Buku Mantan Kiai NU Menggugat Shalawat dan Dzikir Syirik" itu sangat membantu dirinya untuk menenangkan warga NU di daerahnya. Dengan adanya buku itu, ia tidak perlu susah-susah lagi menjelaskan satu persatu persoalan yang sedang dihadapi. Namun, dikatakannya, kebohongan publik dan pelecehan tidak cukup hanya diselesaikan dengan menerbitkan buku bantahan sebagai penyeimbang. “Sebaiknya persoalan itu dibawa ke polisi, agar menjadi pelajaran bagi semuanya.
